A well-known axiom in todays energy marketplace is
getting results from a firms generation assets. This depends
on the quantity and quality of those assets, as well as the
competence with which they are managed.
Access to real-time generation information is a must in order
to make proper business decisions and yield a competitive edge.
The Client
A
Fortune 500 energy services company with dozens of wholly or partially
owned generation units.
The Challenge
Our
client owns a large number of electricity generating units. These
units are in a variety of categories, with varying fuel requirements
and production classifications. The client wanted an effective
and efficient solution to manage unit information, including Unit
types, Fuel types, Installed, Available and Operating Capacities
data.
The Solution
HOC
built an application from end-to-end: requirement analysis to
implementation and integration with external systems. This included
designing the functional and technical architecture, selecting
appropriate technology and tools, designing the database and providing
user training. The solution required a real-time link to external
systems, including embedded circuit breakers to manage its information
universe.
